descriptions are what a Kindergartener through Second grade should be able

STANDARD 1: Demonstrates locomotor and non-locomotor skills (i.e., jumping, hopping, leaping, galloping, sliding, skipping, walking and running). Non-locomotor skills (i.e., bending, twisting, turning, balancing and stretching. |
The student should be able to attempt each skill but are rarely or never able to demonstrate at school. |
Demonstrate progress toward mature form of locomotor and non-locomotor skills. Students can perform 4 of the 8 locomotor skills. |
Demonstrate progress toward mature movement patterns and sequences. The student usually demonstrates six of eight skills in a coordinated manner at school. - Demonstrates a smooth transition between locomotor skills in time with music. |
Demonstrate the ability to adapt and adjust movement skills to uncomplicated, yet changing, environmental conditions, and expectations - traveling forward and sideways using different tempo’s. - Chase, flee, dodge, dodge individual or station obstacles. |

STANDARD 2: Demonstrate manipulative skills. (i.e., dribble a ball, throw, catch, roll a variety of objects, kick, strike and jump rope). |
The student should be able to Attempt each skill but are rarely or never able to demonstrate at school. |
The student should sometimes demonstrate four of the eight skills at school. |
The student should usually demonstrate six of eight skills in a coordinated manner at school. |
The student always demonstrate a mature pattern of all eight skills consistently at school. |

STANDARD 3: Physical Fitness Testing - Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of
physical fitness. |
Identifies one activity to improve each component of
health-related fitness. Participates in self-assessment for health-related fitness. |
Participates in self-assessment for health-related fitness and
scores slightly below the National Standard Physical Fitness test for all
five assessments for their appropriate age group. |
Participates in self-assessment for health-related fitness and
meets the standards for the 50th percentile in the National Standard Physical
Fitness testing for all five assessments for their appropriate age group. |
Participates in self-assessment for health-related fitness and meets the standards for the 85 percentile in the National Standard Physical Fitness testing for all five assessments for their appropriate age group. |

STANDARD 4 Knowledge Identify critical elements of basic movements using movement vocabulary i.e., step, hop, step, hop sequence, overhand, underhand and demonstrate). |
The student should be able to identify each skill but are rarely or never properly able to demonstrate at school. |
The student should be able to rarely demonstrate the proper skills with cue words at school. |
The student is able to sometimes demonstrate and/or explain the proper skills in a coordinated manner at school. |
The student is able to always demonstrate and/ or explain the proper skills consistently at school. - The student is able to apply the proper feedback and make corrections in their performance. |

STANDARD 5 Awareness - Understands physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/ or social intentions. |
Expresses feelings about physical activity. - Exhibit verbal and non-verbal indicators of enjoyment

The student acknowledges that physical activity is good for personal well being |

STANDARD 6 Recognize the basic physiological indicators of physical
activity (i.e., sweating, increased heart rate, elevated respiration). |
The student should be able to recognize signs of exertion |
The student will usually recognize signs of exertion and be able to find pulse rate. |
The student will consistently recognize signs of exertion and be able to count a pulse rate for six seconds. |
The student will always recognize signs of exertion, count pulse rate and give examples of activities that increase heart rate. |

STANDARD 7 Identify the basic components of health-related fitness (i.e., to draw self-portraits, color muscles used for certain activities). |
The student will rarely know where muscle and/or body parts are located for specific activities. |
The student will attempt to identify the proper muscle and/or body part (2 out of 5 correct attempts). |
The student will attempt to identify the proper muscle and/or body part (3 out 5 correct attempts). |
The student will attempt to identify the proper muscle and/or body part (4 out of 5 correct attempts). |
