Biology II: Human Anatomy and
Physiology
Curriculum guide
David City Public Schools
Biology II is the study of the anatomy and physiology of the human body.
The learner will:
#1 Identify the structural levels of organization: chemical, cells, tissues, organs, systems, and the body as a whole.
#2 Describe the position and/or location of body structures using the correct terminology.
#3 Identify the various organ systems in the body and their structure and function.
#4 Identify the bones of the skeleton and various joints.
#5 Identify the major muscles of the body and their origins and insertions.
#6 Describe the structure and function of each of the following body systems: nervous, endocrine, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, reproductive.
#7 Recall that the form of organs and systems contributes to their function.
#8 Explain how changes in the body affect its function.
#9 Recall that complex multi-cellular organisms are formed as highly organized arrangements of different cells.
#10 Recall that genetic variation occurs when genetic information is transmitted during sexual reproduction.
#11 Explain how the human nervous system functions and contributes to human behavior.
