PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Safety

Demonstrate and practice welding safety.

Demonstrate personal safety.

 

Demonstrate general shop safety..

 

Demonstrate knowledge of proper actions to be taken in an emergency..

 

Demonstrate safety procedures for 0xy-Acetylene welding.

Welding Measurements

Demonstrate ability to make accurate welding measurements.

Demonstrate ability to make accurate welding measurements..

 

Identify basic metal-working tools used in measuring.

 

Use layout and making tools as required.

 

Demonstrate the ability to read and use blueprints

 

Explain and perform the sharpening and honing process of conditioning tools.

 

Identify basic welding symbols and components of a symbol in accordance with the national welding symbols standards-AWS.

 

 

Arc Welding

Demonstrate ability in shielded metal arc welding.

Demonstrate ability to correctly set SMAW power sources, related welding equipment and do basic process and equipment troubleshooting.

 

Weld  3 beads, butt, corner, lap, T, pipe to flat. pipe to pipe, vertical down, vertical up, horizontal and overhead welds.

 

Weld .cast and stoodite welds.

Oxy-Acetylene Welding

Demonstrate ability in oxy-acetylene welding.

Demonstrate ability to correctly set up neutral, carburizing, and oxidizing flame as well as related welding equipment and do basic process and equipment troubleshooting.

 

Correctly identify base metal prior to welding.

 

Set up and shut down equipment for welding of carbon steel.

 

Select correct type of filler for metal size for carbon steel.

 

Weld 3 puddle welds at least 3” in length to the satisfaction of the teacher.

 

Weld a butt, edge ,lap, corner, T,  joints with filler material of steel and braze.

 

Weld a pipe to flat, pipe to flat, vertical and horizontal bead using a filler material of braze..

Plasma-Cutting

Demonstrate ability in plasma arc cutting.

. Demonstrate ability to correctly set up the PAC power sources , related cutting equipment and do basic process and equipment troubleshooting..

 

Properly adjust and use the plasma arc equipment

 

 

 

 

Oxy-Acetylene Torch Cutting

Demonstrate ability in oxygen fuel cutting.

Demonstrate ability to correctly set up the OAC equipment for cutting and do basic process troubleshooting.

 

Properly light, adjust the flame, and shut down the oxygen fuel equipment.

 

Select correct tip size and gas pressure for serving carbon steel plate.

 

Make a square cut on carbon steel in the flat position.
